BIOGRAPHY

I'm a British VO Artist working remotely for clients around the world, from my home studio here in London. I am comfortable voicing a range of styles and as an actor and theatre-maker by training, I love to use my skill for creating well-defined characters, making bold choices and adding a playful and engaging edge to give life and conviction to your copy whether its an audiobook, a commercial or corporate or explainer video.

2019 The News Dump Weekly Round Up Narration White Label Comedy We hired Bethan to record the VO for the very first ‘This Week on The News Dump’ round-up show. She turned around a brilliant recording with just 24 hours notice - she captured our tone perfectly and managed to hit exactly the right rhythm and pace needed to make the jokes in the script land. Brilliant - will be working with her again very soon.

SKILLS

Acting Alongside my voiceover career, I work as a freelance actor, puppeteer and theatre-maker. I run my own company Todos Teatro and we are currently touring our show for children Turtles Don't Like Plastic. Creating believable and well-defined characters is my favourite thing to do. I know how important it is that they are 3 dimensional, detailed and played with conviction and commitment. I am able to utilise these skills to lift a copy of the page and bring it alive whether the text calls for a character specifically or not.
Singing Since my days at drama school, I have always loved singing and often incorporate it into my work as a theatre maker. I have a mezzo-soprano range and am comfortable as part of a group and solo. One of my first VO jobs was with Forum Teatro in Spain in which I recorded dialogue, narration and songs for educational teachers packs to accompany their theatre shows. I remember feeling immediately comfortable in front of the mic and had a blast creating lots of wildly different characters through song and voice. In 2017 I toured the UK in La Chanson du Retour, a musical in French in which I played the lead role Lea. It was an invaluable experience in learning to care for my voice and consistently bring my best even when performing 3 shows a show.
Improvisation I have always loved improvisation and the simultaneous awareness you need to have to do it and at the same time not overthinking anything. I developed these skills while studying in Paris and I believe the sense of playfulness and adaptability has stood me in good stead for my voiceover career. I don't feel the need to be precious or stick with my first idea on how a script needs to sound, I've always got something else up my sleeve.

TRAINING

Rose Bruford College - European Theatre Arts 2011-2014 I completed my BA (Hons) in European theatre practice, not only the role of the performer, but also the part played by the director, playwright and designer in a variety of historical and socio-cultural European contexts. It was a stimulating, challenging and varied program that allowed me to discover my own tastes and strengths as a performer as well the value of collaboration, adaptability and hard work. It was a perfect balance of conservatoire and academic training.
École Internationale de Théatre Jacques Lecoq From 2016-2017 I trained at the Jacques Lecoq school in Paris on the professional acting course where I deepened my skills in physical performance including character creation, mime, mask, acrobatics and improvisation. Every week we had to create and perform a brand new short piece we had made to an audience of fellow students and teachers.
Voiceover training with Gravy for the Brain After getting professional voiceover work since 2015 my passion and enjoyment of the art form grew and this year I decided to bolster my experience and learn from the best!
ESAD Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático de Murcia Erasmus exchange programme Interpretación: Teatro de Creación (Acting: Creative Theatre) 2013 3 month period of study, all classes in Spanish. Included classes in movement, devised theatre, mask work, mime and pantomime, contemporary dance, singing, expressive voice, directing and scenography
