CREDITS

SKILLS

Actor I started acting in 7th grade. My mother signed me up without asking. I had a lot of resistance around this and was terrified for much of the year. I lip synced a song by Anne Murray. It was the height of corny - but I did it! And I didn't die of embarrassment. It was a good lesson. I signed up for acting on my own in 8th grade - I played a part that Carol Burnett had played, and I absolutely fell in love with the process. I took acting throughout High school and into college. Then I stopped. For a long time. About 10 years ago I started back up - first with a play "Once Upon a Mattress" where I played a small part - and was surprised how terrified I was of the audition process. Then I started improv - where I get to face into, let go of, and shine in spite of insecurities and creative bashing. Improv keeps me in this present moment, fresh, and connected to me, my fellow actors and the audience. It's an incredible medium.
Voice Actor I started voice acting around the same time I got back into acting - 10 years ago. An Emmy award winning producer friend contacted me and said "try this." I did. I loved it. I kept "trying". Then I stopped trying and started booking . I have amazing clients, I have incredible work. I love the process of working copy so that it's authentic and playful. It's an honor to do this work, and I'm grateful for it every day.
Singer I've always loved to sing. For the longest time I thought my voice was terrible, but I still sang. Nothing formal, but singing filled me in a way nothing else does. I gig occasionally - I play and sing for a High School youth group. I tell you what - those kids - that place - it's a privilege to bring a song to sing together and know we are stronger when we're connected. Regardless of who sings - or who sings well, we have a good time. Knowing about pitch and dynamics, knowing how to bring me to the music - and to invite others in - I use these skills in voice over, too and it makes me more believable and more relatable.
Musician I started playing guitar in high school - like most things at that age - I wasn't very good. I couldn't even tune my guitar without it sounding like a foreign instrument which I found very very funny. Then I started getting better at tuning and playing. Now I'm good. There is always more to learn - but I have excellent rhythm, and you can play just about anything with good rhythm. I use this sense of rhythm in my voice over work too - playing with tempo and pacing - it's part of what brings authenticity to copy, and it's fun.
