BIOGRAPHY

News presenter. Journalist. Lecturer. Author. That's the past career headlines with more besides. Simply, I was a print journalist and sub-editor, moved to the BBC as radio producer with a spot of TV thrown in. Next, a teacher and university part time lecturer, media and journalism. Bloomsbury published my education book on audio in the classroom. Took a complete break as a civil celebrant before revisiting VO.

Description of voice: Narration. News. Relaxed and informal. I can't do shouty, I'm just being honest here. Believe me I've tried. So all those years in BBC news and documentary production means I can switch from smiley relaxed and empathetic to a more serious native British vocal delivery. Telling a story - whatever that story may be - is where my voice sits.

CREDITS

SKILLS

News and Documentary I was a staff news producer, later senior producer for BBC Radio. That was 15 years and I freelanced in production and presentation on either side of that. Which means tight deadlines, desk and later digital edit and mixing and a huge range of subject matter was the day-to-day. News, documentary and programme presentation live and pre-recorded.

TRAINING

BBC Radio My voice work was primarily with BBC Radio and so my training was by range of experience. I did take part in the occasional production course whilst there. I also taught radio conversion one time, for the BBC Radio Training Unit. TV journalists looking to convert to radio skills.
Gravy For the Brain I have enrolled with Gravy For The Brain and have taken various elements of the online training package including post production refreshers and marketing.
