BIOGRAPHY

I started doing character voice acting for radio when I was only about 13 years old. I spent several years in theater training and all through that time up to now (about 30 years) I have been a live performer with my magic show throughout the US and on 3 other continents. I currently stay close to home and record VO when not on the road.

Description of voice: Although I fall in the "middle aged" category, I have a range of voices that can make me sound much younger or much older.

Sounding Age(s): 11 - 16, 31 - 40, 41 - 50, 51 - 60, 61 - 70, 71 - 100

Languages: English (USA)

Accents: I am a Mid-Western American, so I naturally speak with a "Standard" American accent. My family has roots in the South and my mother is from Arkansas. I am able to do a Southern Drawl, that I picked up from her. I have done a British accent for projects that were not meant to be taken too seriously. So, I can do a British accent for more comedic projects but I am not as confident with the authenticity of it.

SKILLS

Theater Acting I started live theater in high school after doing character voice acting on a local radio station both from home and in studio. I took acting classes all four years and was in the CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) program. I was a short play and skit writer, as well. Following high school, I did not only live theater acting but I also performed live action character acting in training videos for local businesses.
Independent Live Performance Entertainer Starting at age 11, I became self-employed after writing and self directing a magic show that I performed just outside of the Chicago Area. Now, more than 30 years later, I have performed magic for audiences on four continents! After writing shows and introductions for other magicians, as well as voicing introductions, I became a VO artist.
Digital Sound Editing Before becoming a VO Talent, I created, edited and produced digital voice and music for magic shows. When becoming a VO Talent, I realized that I could use these skills to not only do the VO work but I was capable of completely producing full commercial and other projects, as well.

TRAINING

Acting School I spent 4 years in Theater and theatrical Creative and Performing Arts acting classes and was the lead in several plays. My strengths were acting and writing but my weaknesses were singing and dancing. I also worked with local acting and theater troops after that.
Voice Over Training Most of my VO training has been informal. I have spent approximately 100 hours learning informally with VO training videos, manuals and conversations with pros. I have done classroom training with "Such A Voice" and webinars with Bill Dewees, Earl Hall Studio and Gravy For the Brain.
